From words to actions
In the early November a group, representing the Sultanate of Oman joined a community of BSTU students. Let us remind that in June 2010 The Delegation of Oman came on a visit to Belgorod at the invitation of BSTU management, in the course of which the officials of the Ministry of Higher Education got familiarized with the activity of our university. Within the framework of the visit the parties discussed the issues of further cooperation in the sphere of higher education. His Excellency, the Undersecretary of The Ministry of Higher Education of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Abdullah M. Al Sarmi, representing the Association of Arab Higher Institutions, stressed that the Arabic countries experience urgent demand in doctors, engineers and specialists in the sphere of information technologies. According to him, BSTU is one of the major Russian technical institutions not only in Russia, but also abroad and BSTU is expected to cover the engineering block. The meeting resulted in signing a memorandum, stating the intention of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Sultanate of Oman, to send the first students to BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov for the new academic year.
The decisions achieved started to be realized. The first group of students from the Sultanate of Oman came to take a course at our University. 3 young men and a girl will take intensive Russian courses (oral and written speech practice, including scientific style) at the preparatory faculty for foreign students, and then will proceed with the studies at BSTU in a selected specialization field. The young gentlemen Al Mashrafi Ali Nasser Ali, Al Masaruai Badar Saud Mansour and Al Barhi Adnan Abdullah Mohammed have chosen power and chemical engineering professions, and the young lady Al Saadi Fatema Abdullah Rasheed Said decided to apply to the course of civil engineering. All the students are quite young - 18 years old, however they are serious in making their choice of professions, required for the development of their home country, which at the same time can guarantee their personal well-being.
Professor of Life safety department, Doctor Yaser Allaham warmly greeted the representatives of the friendly country, told about the university, encouraged them to work efficiently to achieve success in their studies. We also wish the new students to join the multinational family of BSTU students, quick adaptation to a new country and new living conditions. Let the years they are going to spend in
