Colombian Diplomats at Belgorod state Shukhov University
The delegation representing the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia, arrived on a business visit to Belgorod state Shukhov University on June 22. The delegation includes 8 members: the officials of the Embassy, high-ranking businessmen and Colombian students. The Head of the Delegation – H.E. Traditionally, the visitors gave a tribute to V.G Shukhov by laying flowers to his monument. Then the delegation had a tour of the university. With great interest the representatives of the friendly country got familiarized with technical facilities at the department of mechanical equipment. Professor V. Bogdanov, the Dean of the Faculty of technological equipment and complexes told about the unique software, which allows to design the most complicated mechanisms. At the section of nanosystems in building materials science the visitors got detailed information concerning this modern scientific trend, rapidly developing at our university. They were also presented a 3D-model of the campus.
BSTU exhibition centre, the museum and the students’ arts centre arose great interest of Colombian representatives.
In the main security dispatching point the visitors were demonstrated the security system of the university campus.
Professor V.S. Lesovik, the first vice-chancellor for research, innovative and international activity lead an exciting excursion for the Colombian representatives. According to him: «Colombia is rich in mineral resources. Our university is certainly interested in developing ties with such a state of Latin America, as our scientists are able to implement their scientific developments in industry. In addition, our university is making efforts in entering global arena. BSTU is becoming widely known throughout the world, which contributes to its prestige».
Sharing his impressions H.E. Diego Jose Tobon Echeverri expressed his admiration about what he had seen. «Our countries have very much in common and I am confident that we should be more active in promoting cooperation between us». Answering the question about the purpose of his visit to Belgorod oblast, Mr. Diego Jose Tobon mentioned the 75-th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. «I am sure that the vector of developing our relationship is in the area of education and research. Over 30 students, the citizens of Colombia study in higher educational institutions of Belgorodia. I wanted to find out how comfortable they feel here. And now, I am convinced that Belgorod is a wonderful Russian region, where we should promote our joint activity. You have everything you need: a perfect urban infrastructure, highly qualified professors’ staff, material base and state-of-art facilities, conditions for conducting research and artistic activity, doing sports.
On the same day the visitors met the Chancellor of BSTU, doctor of economic sciences, professor S.N. Glagolev. In the course of the meeting H.E. Diego Jose Tobon Echeverri, on behalf of the delegation extended gratitude for perfect arrangements for the visit and admired the things he had seen in the campus. He also passed an invitation to the ceremony, dedicated to 75-th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Colombia and the USSR. The event is scheduled for late June in the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia. The delegation to take part in the event will include a great number of people, rectors of major Colombian universities and will be headed by the Deputy-Minister of Education. The ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Colombia in Russia invited S.N. Glagolev, BSTU Chansellor, to the Colombian Embassy to sign the cooperation agreement in the area of education and student delegation exchange.
S. N. Glagolev expressed his gratitude for the honour and high appraisal of Belgorod State Shukhov Technological University.
On the same day the delegation planned to visit Belgorod Agricultural Academy.
