Student Cultural Center
Student Cultural Center is a cultural and educational hub for students.
The cultural work of the Student Cultural Center assists young people to adjust in the modern society, actualize their talents and opportunities, form proactive attitudes and will to participate in the socio-political life of the country and civil society. All necessary conditions are created for the patriotic and physical development of students, the fulfillment of their scientific, technical, creative, innovative potential. You can find in the Student Cultural Center:
- Creative teams;
- Hobby clubs;
- Amateur art of university institutions;
- Student and public organizations;
- Cultural events.
For self-actualization of students, The Student Cultural Center:
- Create conditions for realization of creative potential of students;
- Identify and support talented students;
- Support initiatives of the students to create clubs and shared interest groups taking into account modern trends.
Cultural and leisure activities are based on work of creative teams and hobby clubs. There are 49 groups In the Student Cultural Center. Among all its creative teams, four have the honorary title "National amateur team" and two teams were awarded the title "Outstanding amateur team." Five teams are the winners of the annual regional competition "Youth of Belgorodchina" in the fields of literature, professional and amateur art.
Creative teams of Student Cultural Center represent with dignity the University at the local, regional, interregional, national and international competitions and festivals.
According to the results of 2017 the creative teams were awarded:

- Prizewinner of the 1st degree — 33;
- Prizewinner of the 2nd degree — 12;

- A commemorative medal for loyalty to the youth creative work at the 25th Russian Festival "Russian Student Spring 2017" — 1.
Social and educational work in the Student Cultural Center of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is provided through various aspects and manifestations. It helps to solve one of the vital problems of our society, namely, the development of highly qualified professionals with the appropriate level of professional and general cultural knowledge.
Cultural and leisure activities of the local, regional, national and international level take place in the Student Cultural Centre on regular basis.
"She-Student of the year 2017"
On the 2nd of March, the most fascinating and spectacular traditional university competition "She-Student of the Year 2017" took place. Students from all institutes joined this contest.
Winners:
- 1st place "She-Student of the Year 2017" Anastasia Reprintseva, the Institute of Chemical Technology;
- 2nd place — Anastasia Krymova, Institute of Architecture and Construction;
- 3rd place — Teresa Massakoy, Institute of Architecture and Construction.
- Award of nomination "Prize of the rector" went to Elizaveta Sukhova, student of Institute of Economy and MAnagement;
- Award of nomination "Jury" went to Alina Khalitova, student of the Institute of Technological Equipment and Machinery;
- Award of nomination "Prize of the trade union committee" went to Elena Karas, student of the Institute of Power Engineering, Information Technology, and Control Systems;
- Award in nominations "Online poll" and "Creativity" went to Julia Gorbun, student of Institute of Transport and Technology.
"He-Student of the Year 2017"
On the 17th of November, on the International Students Day, a traditional university competition "He-Student of the Year 2017" took place. As it always had been, this show left indifferent neither spectators nor contest organizers. Nine students from the university took part in the competition. They demonstrated charisma, artistry, a talent of inventor, singer, dancer and other.
Each participant of the contest won in his nomination:
- "The most creative student" — Dmitry Rudenko (Institute of Economy and Management);
- "The most peculiar student" — Anton Petrovsky (the Institute of Power Engineering, Information Technology, and Control Systems);
- "The most artistic student" — Ascatur Aganov (Institute of Chemical Technology);
- "The prize of online poll" — Vladimir Prokhorov (Institute of Engineering and Construction);
- "The Rector's Prize" — Pavel Rogozhnikov (Institute of Engineering and Construction);
- "Jury Prize" — Bertrand Butui (Institute of Chemical Technology);
- "Prize of the trade union committee" — Sergey Salyk (Institute of Architecture and Construction);
- 3rd place — Kirill Chuev (the Technological Equipment and Machinery Institute);
- 2nd place — Andrey Ilenko (Institute of Transport and Technology).

On the 17th of November, a Gala Concert dedicated to the International Student's Day took place as a part of the university first-year students festival of Art.
All students who participated in the Gala Concert were given certificates of the prizewinners of the festival "Hello, we are looking for talents 2016!
"The world of our thoughts 2017!"
Students of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov are learning to love and enhance their language, to investigate the beauty of the Russian language and the grandeur of Russian literature.
On the 17th of May, the university festival of declamation "The World of Our Thoughts" took place. It had already become a traditional venue for people who love literature. The contest had long ceased to be just a competition and turned into a meeting of friends. 20 students of the university took part in it.

"Talents and fans 2017"
On the 21st of March, 5th-anniversary contest "Talents and fans" was held in University. It can be called the most beloved event among students and staff of the university, to say the least.
Faculty, university staff, postgraduates and undergraduates presented their joint work in various types of art.
13 creative teams took part in the competition and were awarded prizes and certificates:
- Certificate of the 1st degree — "They beat us, we fly", performed by Ekaterina V. Letkemann, director of the design workshop and Anton Plokhodko, secondnd-year student of Institute of Economy and Management;

- "Prize for devotion to traditions" went to a poem "I love you" read by Engineer of the Department of Life Safety Natalia Trapeznikova and Irina Ivanchenko, MA student of ICT;
- "Prize for devotion to traditions" went to "Bouquet of Tulips" performed by Professor of the Department of Roads and Railways Georgy S. Dukhovny, Elena Doroganova, first-year student of the IPEITCS and the accompanier Alexey Bobrov;
- "Prize for devotion to traditions" went literature composition "Nameless Soul" read by Head of Department of Marketing, Professor Ekaterina D. Shchetinina, Marina Orekhova and Anastasia Usacheva, second-year students of IEM.
"New Year's Parade 2017"
On the 24th of December, the traditional 15th Parade of Fathers Frost and Snow Maiden took place in Belgorod. One of the most beautiful pairs was our Father Frost (Aleksey Vysotchansky, the student of ICT) and Snow Maiden (postgraduate student of the Department of Property Survey and management Maria Krutilova). They took first place among the educational and cultural institutes in Belgorod. This is a triumph for the creative team of the Student Cultural Centre on the annual festival because they compete with 87 pairs of Father Frost and Snow Maiden. The New Year's wizards were joined by their friends, fairy-tale characters, and the symbol of 2017 Peter the Cockerel, who became the center of attention.
